Galle Fort Hotel – Colonial Atmosphere

Galle Fort Hotel
Galle, Sri Lanka

Galle Fort Hotel, Galle, Sri Lanka

It was the home of a Dutch gemstone merchant more than 300 years ago, then served as a warehouse, a barracks for the Royal Air Force, a post office, a bakery and a cricket ground. Restored with taste in 2003, this fantastic colonial mansion welcomes a demanding clientele under the spell of its patina and its history. Its interior patio hides a magnificent swimming pool (quite rare in Galle) and its colonnades invites you to imagine what could be the life of the colonists, languid under the fans, sipping a cocktail or a fresh juice.

3 rooms overlooking the garden, 11 suites with different configurations; Loft, large apartment with 2 suites, the suite of Admiral Cheng Ho (more Chinese decor), the Library Suite or the porcelain suite … As you see, each suite is unique!

One of the best restaurants in the city is hidden in these walls, offering the most refined cuisine made from local produce (crabs, lobsters, seasonal fruits and vegetables). Note that it is also one of the only restaurants in Galle that has a liquor license!

Swimming pool. You are at the heart of the World Heritage Site by UNESCO, you just have to walk around the hotel to discover all the renovated buildings and those still to come.
